Energetic Healing Practices

healing-handsThese meditations and practices are very powerful and have the potential to help manage cravings and increase general feelings of well-being. In essence they help reintegrating and redistributing your bodies energies evenly through-out the body, it has been of great benefit to me in my recovery.

Colour Healing Meditation

This is a very powerful visualization meditation so don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel anything different the first time you try it.

  1. Sit comfortably, with your eyes closed and your spine reasonably straight.
  2. Visualize a large ball of radiant Golden light a few inches over your head. Visualize that ball of light slowly descending through the top of your head, filling your entire body with golden light.
  3. Repeat step 2 but visualize a ball of Red light. Continue through the entire spectrum like this, visualizing a ball of Orange light; Yellow light; Green light; Blue light; Indigo light; and Violet light. Go through the spectrum at whatever pace feels appropriate.
  4. At the end, take some time to visualize yourself in a state of perfect, radiant health.

Energy Circulation Meditation

Here is a meditation you can do next time you are feeling strong cravings, you can do it in the office or at home or in bed. Much like the Colour Healing meditation, this practice is very powerful and should only be done for about 5 minutes for a beginner.

  1. Sit comfortably, with your eyes closed and your spine reasonably straight.
  2. Become mindful of the point on the very top of your head.
  3. Move this point down the center of the body on an exhale, then under the pelvis and up the back of the body on an inhale, with out any pauses in the breath. Repeat this for several minutes at the pace of your natural breathing.
  4. At the end, take some time to visualize yourself in a state of perfect, radiant health.

Healing Hands Practice

healing-hands4This is a more gentle practice, also good for on-the-spot relief from cravings.

  1. Sit comfortably, with your eyes closed and your spine reasonably straight.
  2. Place one hand on your throat, and one hand on your heart. If they are cold, warm them up a bit first.
  3. Breath at a natural pace and relax for 5 to 10 minutes.
